The new 12-acre civic space will replace the existing Great Plaza and extend as a “cap” over portions of I-95 and Columbus Boulevard, reconnecting the city with the waterfront. This investment, which has been years in the making, will create a signature public space that speaks to the community spirit of Philadelphia. It seeks to balance the destination with the everyday—drawing Philadelphians from across the city to a place the can call their own, while also serving as an attraction for visitors.
