ABOUT ABOUT

The Philadelphia City Archives announces Discussions on the Lazaretto, a series of short chats with historians, journalists and interested citizens on Philadelphia's Lazaretto.

The Lazaretto, located in Tinicum Township, has weathered centuries of Philadelphia life, as an import for new American immigrants, a quarantine center during the Yellow Fever epidemic and now a symbol of Philly's colorful past... and perhaps its future! It has been the workplace of Black Philadelphians, a temporary home for new migrant populations and a rallying point for local citizens interested in preserving Philly history. We are examining the Lazaretto's history and significance from all angles, and we want you to come on the journey with us.

Join us on on March 25, 2020 at the Free Library (Parkway Central branch) for the series of discussions, followed by shuttles to the Philadelphia City Archives for an exhibit on the Lazaretto and free happy hour.
